When building the ESX host, create a dedicated partition for /opt.
Without a dedicated /opt partition, /opt is going to be a directory off /. Some instances of VMware HA logging as well as hardware agent logging is stored in /opt. Excessive logging on /opt can chew up all available partition space on /. Running out of disk space on / is less than ideal and that’s putting it mildly. I prefer a 4GB partition size for /opt.
