VMFS-2 to VMFS-3

One change from VMFS-2 to VMFS-3 was the outcome of a LUN failure when using extents. Because VMFS-3 employs LVM to manage volumes, data is not striped across the extents and therefore the loss of an extent doesn't necessarily constitute a loss of all VMs (although you will lose the VMs on the failed extent). VMs will continue to run on the other extents, unless the "head" extent is lost. Then all is gone.
